Personal Narrative:

I come from a quiet town of Pusan in South Korea.  I am the founding director of Beth’s Yoga Center, strategically located in the beautiful and peaceful new large business center in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, Malaysia, from where I teach Yoga and meditation, and also give astrological life coaching consultation.  I hold B.A in Economics and M.A in Indian philosophy from US.  I am well-versed in diverse subjects that are related to holistic wellness, i.e. yoga, meditation, various New Age topics including Indian and Western astrology.  I am married to a Chinese Malaysian, a respected TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) consultant, for 13 years now whom I met during my US study.  We came back to Malaysia in 1997 and have shared visions of uplifting wellness in people through each other’s work.  Together with our 12-year-old son, we enjoy harmonious but dynamic life in the same tranquil neighborhood across my yoga center that has lots of greens and fresh air all around.  I have been teaching since 2001 in Malaysia but way before that I also taught in Korea before I leave for my further study in US.

Yoga, meditation and Eastern philosophy have been my life long passion which continues to be till today.  As a life long student of life itself, I continue my learning even while I am teaching and more significantly, while living this in this hectic modern life.  My vision is to share with people the ideas, wisdom and ways of life, of which I learned through direct and indirect experiences from various traditions, teachings, diverse cultures and religions.  It is my strongest wish in life to benefit and help people to grow so that everyone can bring the best out of one’s life.  For that, I use my experiences from years of spiritual cultivation, studies and teachings as well as my inborn gift of intuitive perceptions.  It gives my unique strength and ability to see both sides of the coin as well as a whole in people or in any situation.

Overall, I am happy, content and well-positioned in life.  To come to this stage, to be able to feel safe and sound as I am today, came about with a long transformational journey that I took through different lands and time.  It was an ongoing process of constant change and growth that which started with the inner voice that I heard since small and followed it through, and eventually realized that it was the calling from a life that is much larger than mine or anyone of us.  Within the matrix of a larger web, that which we all are parts of it, we are intrinsically connected to each other whether we are aware of it or not.  Hence if we live in the isolation of “I” or “mine” as is prevalent in the modern living, our life easily becomes selfish, lonely, insecure, fearful, confused and a challenging one.  However, if we could see in the context of a larger life that which has been exiting through infinite time and space, we immediately connect to the very source of life.  Then all the problem or difficulties we thought serious would vanish.  We discover the treasure land within, the abode of abundance and joy.  There is nothing we could not have, not enough.  No one is left out in sharing the treasures but will remain hidden if keep looking from outside of ourselves.  Because it is located in the center of our being; in our body, breath, and in our heart, that which is the abode of infinite abundance and joy.

Like everyone else, I had my fare shares of up and downs in life, enough to add maturity in my being and the age.  Through my personal journey, Yoga and meditation has been the backbone, astrology the illumination and others the important guiding posts not to get lost.  I thought self-realization can come if I can be away from the hustle-bustle affairs of the world hiding deep in the mountain.  And yet, the most important realization came while I was living this life as real as it can be; as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, student and teacher.  In looking for life’s direction, many spiritual teachings or religions, present either partial or too lofty pictures for the common people to apply, encouraging us to adopt either escapisms or lopsided views and attitude in life.  We are quick to make judgments on right and wrong, white and black, clever or stupid, selfish or generous, and materialistic or spiritual, etc.  When we look a bit closer there is really no one who is completely good or bad but a lot stand in between.  We are just in different times and circumstances, acting a certain way in response to what are required of at the present. We need more of an unbiased understanding and acceptance that we all want nothing but attention, acknowledgement, security, and happiness like everyone else.  When we broaden our horizon to embrace our humanity, then our life can be more conscious and enriching ones, and the society and the world can become much more safe and sound place to live and enjoy together.  We only need to turn around.

I am a unique combination of different cultures, life experiences and aspirations.  In astrology, my birth ascendant sign is Libra, the scale, representing balance and harmony.  By sharing the reflections that are obvious to me, but seem not so obvious to many others, I think I can help to enhance holistic awareness in people.  What I would like to do is mirroring back from an ordinariness of conscious living, to shed some insights to help expand our views for a more wholesome life, and to share my reflections on natural ways of functioning and living within the context of our culture and current lifestyles we are in.   In this way, we can all together grow in wisdom, understanding, love, compassion and harmony in our hearts.   In the era of fast moving technology we are living in, it is very difficult to nurture heart-to-heart human relationships with anyone, even amongst family members.    In a way, it is also a blessing in disguise that its high tech allows me to reach out to you and others much easier than ever by just pressing some buttons from my laptop.    I look forward to keep in touch with you through e-community that which will go beyond the distance, time and space barriers that are laid between us.   Namaste!
